Hummus in 15 minutes

Just so we're all on the same page, let's talk about what hummus is. Hummus is a spread made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon and spices. It is commonly eaten in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
We advise you to try a homemade version instead of grocery store hummus. We think this recipe is better than anything we could have found at the store. Bonus it's made with real, healthy ingredients and it's vegan!
You can prepare the smoothest and most delicious hummus in just 15 minutes. Seriously, we assure you, it's as easy as it sounds.

INGREDIENTS

  • Naturavit chickpeas: 3 cups
  • Garlic: 1 or 2 cloves.
  • Tahini: ⅓ cup
  • Fresh juice from a lemon
  • Salt
  • A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

METHOD OF PREPARATION

Step 1
Chop the garlic and let it sit for a few minutes in a little lemon juice.
Strain the Naturavit chickpeas from the jar then add them to the food processor. Turn on the food processor and blend the chickpeas until they turn into a smooth paste.

Step 2
While the food processor is running, add the tahini, salt, lemon juice and minced garlic. Blend for about 4 minutes.

Step 3
If the consistency is still too thick, turn on the food processor and slowly add a little cold water. Blend until a silky smooth consistency is achieved.

Step 4
At this point, you can cover and refrigerate the hummus for about an hour before serving.

Step 5
Transfer to a bowl, add a generous drizzle of good extra virgin olive oil and, if you wish, you can garnish it with a few ready-cooked chickpeas. Enjoy it with warm bread or fresh vegetables.
